Constipation: 9 out of 10 women suffer in their daily lives
A study conducted by Ipsos for Hépar reveals that 88% of women suffering from constipation see their professional, personal and love life disrupted.
Repeated stomach aches, bloating and too infrequent and hard stools… Constipation mainly affects women and has a real impact on their daily life. According to a survey carried out by Ipsos for Hépar, for 9 out of 10 women, constipation has negative consequences on their personal and professional life.
A social life with a strong impact
Professionally, more than half of women feel affected by this chronic problem. Some lack concentration because of the stomach aches caused, others (34%) do not dare to use the toilet in their office. The study also shows that the stress generated by these intestinal disorders can lead to withdrawal with feelings of embarrassment and shame.
As for personal life, when going out to restaurants, 27% of women with bowel problems go so far as to deprive themselves of meals in order to avoid unpleasant discomfort. Also, many of them do not dare to dress as they wish. This feeling of deprivation persists even in their intimate life, which for more than half of the women concerned is also difficult to manage. More than two out of ten women experience a decrease in libido and no longer feel desirable enough towards their partner.
